Well that's sick and disgusting.

I'm sure many have already read the story about the asshole in Austria that imprisoned his daughter in the basement of their family home, and then impregnated her with 7 children (one of which died soon after it was born, so he tossed it into the incinerator...) while she was held captive there.

Her mother didn't know she was there or what has happening, or so the story says.

But apparently 3 of the children that were born were being raised above ground by her and her husband. (The article says that they were living with their grandparents. I guess I just assumed they mean the dirty, disgusting man and his stupid, stupid wife, but maybe I'm wrong about that?) If they were raising the kids as their own, didn't the mother question at all where those children came from? I mean, did the sick, twisted dad just bring them home and say, "Hey, look what they were handing out at work again today!"

I don't get it.

I saw that story and my initial (and continuing) reaction was: "Man, that right there is some fucked up shit."

I hadn't heard of this. I wish I hadn't. How on earth will that poor woman ever recover? There is no punishment to make up for the years she has lost and the abuse she has suffered.

Like I said: scary shit that people this crazy are walking around amongst us. I second Emaw and Sizzles words. So fucked up and sad.

I think the story said they told authorities that the three kids they were raising had been found outside their house.

Sad for everyone involved.

Christ! This is so horrible. I guess in order to be married to a complete monster, you'd have to be either psychotic, or unbelievably stupid. So maybe that explains the wife's role. But, how do you pretend that you didn't know your own daughter was locked in the basement? Just as a precaution, I'm going to make sure I at least look in every room in my house, once a month, JUST IN CASE someone might be held prisoner.

I'm so disgusted right now.

They just FOUND 3 kids outside the house, eh? Just wandering about. Or maybe it's like those people that are known for being softies when it comes to unwanted animals, and so people just start dropping off the cats/dogs/goats/guinea pigs they don't want at the edge of their property, and take off?

Didn't the wife start to pick up on the oddness when the 3rd kid that looked eerily similar in nature to her HUSBAND and her DAUGHTER showed up out on the stoop a couple of years after the last one did?

What's even more fucked up is that the dad kept the other 3 kids that survived past birth in the basement with his poor daughter!

Seriously, how do people like this look at themselves in the mirror each day? HOW???

abcnews.go.com has much more in-depth stories on this that will answer your questions.

The 3 kids were not found outside...

Actually, they did say they found them outside:

"Police said that Josef and Rosemarie Fritzl raised three of Elisabeth's children in their apartment. The couple registered those children with authorities, saying they found them outside their home in 1993, 1994 and 1997, at least one with a note from Elisabeth saying she could not care for the child."

I read that as well, anonymous. Though it doesn't detail HOW they were found, nor if they were infants or older at the time of being found.

I was happy to read the mother/daughter and her children are receiving psych help. What an atrocious situation.

Ok, well it sounds like dear ol' daddy somehow snuck them *out* of the house, and left them on the doorstep as though their daughter Elisabeth (i.e. the daughter he'd hidden in the basement and diddled all those years...) had dropped them by after having them and discovering she couldn't take care of them.

If they still had torture devices like the rack in use, this guy would sooooo be the perfect candidate to use it on. Ass. Hole.

Sorry. Technically, it does say that in the article but that is what the father told his wife. He brought the children up from the cellar and told her he found them outside.

Jeez.

Sorry Alisha, I didn't read that anywhere in the articles. But that would make better sense- if there is anything in this entire nightmare that makes sense.

I would imagine that the children he brought upstairs were infants or not yet able to talk.

Otherwise, he would have run the risk of the children either asking about their imprisoned mother or telling people at school that their mom and siblings lived in the basement.
