I was behind a truck this morning on my way to work that had a bumper sticker on it that said:

"KANSAS: As bigoted as you think we are."

What? The? FUCK?

Have you ever ventured out of Johnson county into the rural? Just curious.

Yep! Lots. It's one of the reasons why I moved here from California. All the wide open spaces...the large fields full of tall grass, and/or cows grazing about.

My favorite area is a little south...between Olathe and Emporia. I have a dead boyfriend that I lost in 1997, and his grave is in Arvonia, which is by Melvern Lake. I just love it down there.

I don't understand what that has to do with this bumper sticker, though.

I must say, for as many times as I have visited Kansas and the surrounding areas I can't think of any bigots I have encountered. Maybe I just haven't come in on the right conversations?

...and he was correct.

Yeah, I've seen that one. It's a sarcastic turn on the ill-fated tourism slogan "KANSAS: As big as you think." I think it came out right after the "protection of marriage" amendment was passed.
